Let us stop a moment before the second last column in the cloister, where we can see the date 1443 inscribed between the acanthus leaves of the Corinthian capital. This inscription shows us that, in that year, construction work on the monastery conceived and commissioned by Friar Simone had been terminated, although the finishing touches were still being completed. In addition to the beautiful capitals topping the columns, visitors can also admire the small capitals that complement the ribbed vaults, which, in the dining rooms and along the corridors on the ground and upper floors, are in a completely different style. A wall has been built in the northern section of the cloister to support the arches, but the columns are still clearly visible.

Let us now take the service stairs behind us to the upper floor.
